De Vrij Approaches Departure from Inter Milan as Al-Ittihad Jeddah Awaits

Italian press reports have revealed a strong desire from Dutch international Stefan de Vrij, defender of Inter Milan, to leave the club during the January 2026 winter transfer window, in search of more playing time to boost his chances of being selected for the Netherlands national team in upcoming competitions.

The newspaper "Tutto Sport" reported that 33-year-old De Vrij is focused on participating with his national team in the 2026 World Cup finals, which is prompting him to seriously consider a change of environment, especially after his reduced role with Inter this season.

Despite his strong commitment to Inter Milan since joining the team in 2018, the Dutch defender has lost his place in the starting lineup, especially after the departure of coach Simone Inzaghi last June. He has only played in seven official matches this season under the leadership of coach Christian Chivu, which has caused a sense of frustration for the player.

Reports indicated that De Vrij believes that continuing in this situation could jeopardize his chances at the international level, which makes him in need of a club that offers him the opportunity to play regularly in the second half of the season, to ensure his technical and physical readiness before the World Cup.

In this context, Saudi club Al-Ittihad Jeddah has joined the list of clubs interested in signing De Vrij, alongside Italy's Bologna, Nottingham Forest, and Portugal's Benfica, as they await further developments regarding the player's situation in the coming period.
