The Spanish Referees Association responded to statements made by Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, who criticized refereeing in Spain and the seriousness of the Negreira case, especially following the events of the team's recent match against Deportivo Alavés.

The Referees Association stated in its statement: "The association rejects Florentino Pérez's recent remarks because they harm the reputation of referees and Spanish football."

He added: "Arbitration in Spain is independent and professional; no accusations have been made against any referee in the Negreira case."

She added: "Results are decided on the field, and referees cannot be used as an excuse to justify them. We also support all referees and reject publicly questioning their integrity without evidence."

She emphasized: "Any statements from influential figures could lead to violence against the officials, so it is important to maintain constructive dialogue with the clubs."

She added: "The referees' statements at the King’s Cup final conference last season were meant to highlight the violence against them, and no threats were directed at any club."

She concluded: "The association warns against creating an unsportsmanlike atmosphere due to inaccurate statements."
