Algeria Coach Comments on Exit from Arab Cup
Majid Bougherra, the coach of the Algerian national team, commented on his team's exit from the Arab Cup.
The Algerian national team lost to the United Arab Emirates in the Arab Cup quarterfinals in a penalty shootout with a score of 7-6, after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time.
Bougherra said in a press conference after the match: "We were the first to score in the game, which is proof that we were on the right track from the start."
He added: "The team suffered from significant injuries, such as Darawi and Khasif, which forced me to make changes to the starting lineup. We didn't have enough time to prepare well for the match, but that's football."
Regarding the penalty shootout that decided Algeria's elimination, he said: "Everyone who took a penalty did so by my choice and in consultation with the players. It's a matter of luck, and we were victims of great fatigue. Things did not go in our favor."
He concluded: "We have accepted what is written, and this is not the end of the world. I hope the national team will bring happiness to the Algerians in the Africa Cup of Nations."
