West Asian Football Federation considers organizing a tournament for national teams with Russia and Thailand

Attention is turning to a new proposal from the West Asian Football Federation to study the establishment of a national teams tournament during the period previously allocated for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which has been rescheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028.

According to circulating reports, the proposal includes inviting the national teams of Russia and Thailand to participate in the tournament, a move that would expand the scope of competition and give the participating teams the opportunity to play additional matches during that period.

No official announcement has yet been made by the West Asian Football Federation regarding the approval of the proposal or the determination of the participating teams, the date of the tournament, and its venue.
