Shocking Number Confirms Barcelona's Fragility Under Flick's Leadership Away from Home

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed a worrying statistic confirming Barcelona's struggles under Hans Flick's leadership in the UEFA Champions League when playing away from home, as the team conceded 24 goals in 10 away matches, a high rate inconsistent with the ambitions of a team seeking to compete with the continent's top clubs.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona's problem appears from the very first moments in their away matches, as the team conceded two goals against Monaco, and the same happened against Belgrade, before the pattern escalated clearly in more challenging outings such as Dortmund, where they conceded four goals in December and another three in April.

Benfica also managed to score four goals despite losing to Barcelona 5-4, and even in matches that seemed less difficult like Newcastle, Brugge, and Chelsea, opponents were able to reach the net easily.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona suffers from weak control of matches without the ball, difficulty in stopping counterattacks, and protecting the penalty area, along with losing possession at critical moments, which grants opponents repeated dangerous opportunities, especially away from home.

The newspaper confirmed that Flick sees the necessity of finding a better defensive balance, but the team has not yet reached the required level to compete consistently away from Montjuïc, noting that the coach admitted after the Chelsea match that the red card and the early missed opportunity directly affected the course of the game.

The newspaper stressed that Barcelona is paying a heavy price for its defensive lapses away from home, and correcting this problem is an urgent necessity if they want to continue their journey and present a truly competitive image in the UEFA Champions League.
