Flick: Happy with the Victory, Amazing Fans, and a Great Club
Sunday 23-11-2025
Barcelona's head coach, Hans Flick, analyzed the team's match against Athletic Bilbao in the 13th round of the Spanish league and expressed his great happiness after the impressive 4-0 victory on the historic day of returning to play at the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou stadium, emphasizing how deeply he was moved by every moment experienced by the team and the fans.

Flick said, "I am very happy, everything went well because we controlled the match and scored goals at the right times."

He explained: "It was important not to concede goals, but more important to win the matches; this is our way of playing."

Regarding the opposing team, he added: "We know that Athletic Bilbao applies high pressure, plays collectively, and has good organization. They had some chances to score; they are a great team. Sometimes things go our way, and this was one of those times."

Regarding Baldi, he pointed out: "Baldi is in good condition, but we had to take care of him."

Regarding the return to Camp Nou, he continued: "It was an incredible feeling, and most importantly, we won. It wasn't easy, but everything went well and we are very happy—happy not to have conceded any goals, to have scored four, and to have earned the three points."

About Eric Garcia in midfield, he said: "Every coach is lucky to have a player like Eric Garcia, who performs at a high level in various positions. I am very happy with his level of play. Gerard delivered an excellent performance as a center-back, and Ronald Araujo came after a long journey."

Regarding Lewandowski, he confirmed: "He is a very important player, the kind who often scores when given the opportunity. It was important for him to score early because that gives us greater confidence. Over the past ten years, he has been one of the best, or perhaps the best, in the number 9 position. This isn't about age; he is in good shape and motivated to keep scoring, and that is what matters."

Regarding the emotional experience, Flick continued: "Even during the open training session for the fans, it was amazing. I was here when I was released from a third-division team, and at that time I said I wanted to be in this seat. It's a dream come true. When you work hard and believe in what you do, anything is possible. We have to play as a true team. We have amazing fans and a great club, and we are coming home."

Regarding his happiness with the overall performance, he said: "I am very happy. Athletic Bilbao must be respected; they are a great club. But I’m glad we played at this level and scored four goals. My coaching staff is also happy. Everyone felt the emotions we experience in this stadium. Today was wonderful for everyone."

Regarding the upcoming titles, he pointed out: "I believe this was the first step. We can feel this atmosphere and what it can offer us, and with more fans, it will be even better. But we have to take it step by step and wait."

He added: "I feel very optimistic, I trust the team and believe in it. We have a high-quality team, we have never complained about the absence of any player, and we handle all situations. Everyone wants to give 100% for this team, and that is the best thing any coach can have."

He continued: "For everyone, it's great to play on a pitch like this. In the case of Firmin, his playing style adds a lot; he holds the ball, creates spaces, and always tries to score or create chances."

Regarding the renewal of confidence in Eric Garcia, he continued: "I hope that happens. Work is underway on this, and when everything is finalized, we will talk, but not now. Everyone can see his improvement; he is gaining confidence in every position he plays."

Flick concluded his statements by saying: "I liked him; he showed that he is a player of great quality who helps us build play from the back. We always know exactly what he will bring to us. We trust him 100%. Looking back over the past year and a half, we see that he has worked very hard."
