Laporta Comments on the Investigation of Tebas and Barcelona's Return to Camp Nou
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that the Administrative Court for Sports has opened a highly serious disciplinary file against Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish League Association, due to allegations of leaking confidential information related to FC Barcelona, following a complaint filed by Miguel Ángel Galán, president of the Association for Transparency and Democracy in Sports.
The accusations include data about VIP boxes, auditor changes, information about the club's properties, and internal communications with the Higher Sports Council. The file is supported by 18 members of Barcelona.
In this context, Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan club, made statements saying: "I believe this is not good news, this matter was pushed by a certain group, and I do not specifically know who is behind it. It is not good news because our relations with the League Association are good, and these attempts to oust the league president, I do not know where they come from, I do not fully trust it."
Laporta added: "If the violation is confirmed, the penalties Tebas may face range from an official warning and suspension from two months to a year, and possibly dismissal from the presidency in the worst-case scenarios."
FC Barcelona is delighted to face Athletic Bilbao in the 13th round of the 2025/2026 Spanish League season, in the first official match after two and a half years of renovation work, amid emotional and expectation-filled atmospheres for the club's fans.
Laporta revealed details about the kickoff before the match in live statements saying: "The kickoff will be simple and symbolic, and it will be performed by a figure representing the club's fan base, a symbolic person among the oldest members most capable of attending. This match and all its pre-match events will be collective, not for an individual."
Laporta urged attendees to comply and rally around the club's instructions: "I ask everyone to arrive early, follow the recommendations, come on foot or use public transportation. I assure the players that although today is celebratory, the three points cannot be missed. Sometimes celebration behaviors distract players, but I am confident the team will be focused on achieving the victory."
Laporta emphasized the financial aspect of returning to the stadium, saying: "The return to Spotify Camp Nou is not only to restore income but also to be able to adhere to the budget. The fans are always responsive, and with a football stadium, ticket revenues will be good. By the end of the year and with 62,000 fans, it will be better."
