Inter Milan is close to permanently signing Manuel Akanji
Inter Milan is nearing a decisive move regarding the future of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji, after the player confirmed, according to the website "Calcio Mercato," his desire to stay permanently with the Italian club.
Akanji said: "Yes, I hope Inter Milan signs me on a permanent basis. I am very happy here, and we will see what happens."
Akanji joined Inter Milan during the summer transfer window, coming from Manchester City on a loan deal worth 2 million euros, with an option to buy for 15 million euros. This option could become an obligation to buy if the team, led by Christian Kivuo, succeeds in winning the league title.
Within just a few months, the Swiss defender established himself as a key player in Inter's lineup, having participated in every league match since his arrival. He played the full 90 minutes in nine matches and also took part in four Champions League games.
The report indicated that AC Milan attempted to sign Akanji in the last days of August after learning that he had not reached an agreement with Galatasaray. However, the player preferred to join a team participating in the Champions League, which opened the door for Inter Milan to complete the deal with support from Manchester City and the defender's own desire.
With this outstanding performance and the mutual desire of both parties, Inter continues to evaluate the option of making Akanji's transfer permanent in the near future.
