Crystal Palace Begins Contract Renewal Talks with Mateta Amid Growing Interest in Signing Him

Thursday 20-11-2025
Sky Sports reported that Crystal Palace has started official talks to renew the contract of their striker, Jean-Philippe Mateta, although no agreement has been reached yet, with more than 18 months remaining on his current contract.

This move comes amid growing interest in signing the player, alongside interest from other clubs in players such as Daniel Munoz, Adam Lallana, and Marc Guehi.

Mateta is having an outstanding season, scoring 6 goals in 11 matches, in addition to his international breakthrough after being called up to the France squad and scoring two goals in his first three games.

He has also raised his tally with Palace to 54 goals in 171 matches, including 17 goals last season, which saw the team crowned FA Cup champions.

In this context, the same source added that Crystal Palace's management sees Liverpool as the club most likely to move for Marc Guehi in January, especially after Giovanni Lo Celso's injury and the uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konaté's future.
