Guardiola: The World Left Palestine Alone, and This is My Stance on Returning to Barcelona
Monday 17-11-2025
Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, affirmed his support for the Palestinian cause, expressing his concern about the international situation, and ruling out his potential return to Barcelona.

This came in press statements on the sidelines of the friendly match between Catalonia and Palestine scheduled for Tuesday at the Montjuïc Stadium, supported by the ACT X PALESTINE campaign, which has received widespread endorsement from major sports figures, with more than 25,000 tickets sold.

Guardiola highlighted the importance of these initiatives: "It's a match that's more than symbolic, today everything is known, and through this meeting, Palestinians will see that there is a part of the world that cares about them."

He spoke harshly about the situation in Gaza: "The world left Palestine alone, we did nothing at all, they are not to blame for being born there, we all allowed an entire people to be destroyed, the damage has already been done and cannot be repaired."

He criticized political leaders around the world: "I can't imagine anyone who can defend the massacres in Gaza, our children could be there and killed just because they were born there, I have very little trust in the rulers, they will do anything to stay in power."

He added about the role of the symbolic match: "Symbolism helps to alert people, but there must be something moving behind it."

On the possibility of returning to Barcelona, Guardiola said: "I don't reject the club, but every phase has young coaches with the same enthusiasm I felt, the club gave me everything as a player and as a coach."

He also recalled some of his standout moments with Barcelona after completing 1,000 matches as a coach: "I don't know which phase to choose, from the Barcelona period, in the league there was the 6-2 victory over Real Madrid, and also the second Champions League final."
