Chesney Continues to Concede Goals Despite His Stellar Performance with Barcelona
Monday 03-11-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Chesney is still looking for his first clean sheet since joining the team, despite his remarkable performance in recent matches, as the return of goalkeeper Juan Garcia from injury approaches.

The newspaper clarified that Barcelona achieved an important victory against Elche, but the team continued its streak of consecutive matches in which they have conceded goals, as Chesney let in another goal, extending the negative record to eight consecutive official matches without a clean sheet, the longest streak since the 2020/2021 season.

The newspaper added that Chesney has conceded 12 goals this season in eight matches, without being directly responsible for most of them, noting that he saved a penalty against Kylian Mbappe in the Clasico and made a fantastic save against Rafa Mir during the match against Elche.

The newspaper pointed out that the last time Barcelona finished a match without conceding goals was on September 21, when they won 3-0 against Getafe, and since that date, the team has conceded goals in all their subsequent matches, including against Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Girona, Olympiacos, Real Madrid, and finally Elche.

The newspaper confirmed that this streak of consecutive matches in which Barcelona has conceded goals matches the negative record set during Ronald Koeman's era five years ago, at a time when the Catalan club is awaiting the return of Juan Garcia to enhance competition for the goalkeeper position.
