Flick: We have regained Lewandowski and Olmo, and we must focus against Elche
Saturday 01-11-2025
The head coach of FC Barcelona, German Hans Flick, held a press conference today, Saturday, to talk about his team's upcoming match against Elche in La Liga, where he returns to the bench after serving a suspension that kept him away from the Clasico against Real Madrid.

During the press conference, Flick spoke about the condition of his players and the current situation of the team after the loss at the Bernabéu, affirming his confidence in his players' ability to return to the winning path.

Flick said: "It’s a different match, I like Elche's style of play; it’s an organized team that always looks for collective solutions. We need to stick to the game plan, and I was very pleased with what I saw from the players in training over the past two days. We have regained Lewandowski and Olmo, but we lost Pedri, and these are normal things in football, and we have to deal with them."

He added about Lamine Yamal: "I just spoke with him, and he is in good condition; sometimes he feels some discomfort, but he is developing positively. I always talk to him openly, and I will support and protect him; he is a great player and very young, and he can play in multiple positions, but what’s important for him is to touch the ball, as it gives him confidence and creativity."

Regarding the Clasico match, Flick clarified: "I don’t want to go back to talking about it; it wasn’t good to watch the match from the stands instead of the bench, but I have to learn from that situation and move forward."

On Pedri's injury, the German coach said: "His injury surprised us; he was only feeling some discomfort, but the tests showed a real injury. We miss one of our best players because he gives us control and possession, and we hope he returns soon."

He also praised Kobarse, saying: "He is only 18 years old, and it’s normal not to always be at his best. He performs well in most matches, and we are working with him and the other players to regain the best possible level."

Flick also spoke about Iñaki Peña: "He is an excellent goalkeeper; we need to play as one team, and the most important thing is that the fans feel that we are giving our all to win. Elche is a good team, but we want to show group unity and compete strongly."

Regarding Lewandowski and Olmo, Flick said: "They will be on the match list, and we will decide later who will start. The most important thing is that the team continues to improve and that everyone is ready to give their best."

The head coach concluded his remarks by saying: "We have to accept the circumstances as they are; we are in November, and the season is still long. The team is in good spirits, and our goal is to win against Elche and make our fans happy."
