Barcelona's Defense Collapses Again.. Seven Consecutive Matches Without a Clean Sheet
Wednesday 29-10-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that FC Barcelona is experiencing a clear defensive crisis this season, having conceded goals in seven consecutive matches, a streak not seen since Ronald Koeman's era.

The newspaper clarified that the problem is not only related to the defense line but encompasses the entire team's performance, as defense starts from the front line. It added that the absence of goalkeeper Juan Garcia due to injury, the decline in Jules Koundé's level, along with the absence of Raphinha, who is a key element in pressing, are all factors that contributed to the decline in the team's defensive solidity under Hans Flick's leadership.

Sport mentioned that the last match in which Barcelona kept a clean sheet was against Getafe on September 21, when they won 3-0 at Johan Cruyff Stadium. Since that match, the team has conceded goals in all subsequent matches against Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Girona, Olympiacos, and finally Real Madrid in the Clasico, despite Wojciech Szczesny's good performance.

The newspaper added that this streak is the worst since the 2020/2021 season with Koeman, where Barcelona conceded goals in eight consecutive matches. If Elche scores in the next match at Montjuïc Stadium, the team will equal its negative record set five years ago, something Flick hopes to avoid.

Sport also pointed out that the team has conceded 16 goals in 13 matches across La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, averaging 1.23 goals per match, which is higher than in previous seasons. Last season, Barcelona conceded only 13 goals in the first 13 matches, while they conceded 11 goals in the first two seasons under Xavi Hernandez.

These numbers represent a real wake-up call for coach Hans Flick, who is striving to restore defensive balance and stop the goal leakage as soon as possible.
