The Classic Reveals a Paradox Between Barcelona's Possession and Real Madrid's Danger
Tuesday 28-10-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that the recent classic match between Real Madrid and Barcelona witnessed new historical figures, where Barcelona set a record in ball possession percentage during the era of Hans Flick, while Real Madrid achieved an unprecedented number of shots on goal.

The newspaper clarified that this match was the fifth between the two teams since Flick took over the coaching of Barcelona, and it marked Real Madrid's first victory after four consecutive defeats against the Catalan team. Barcelona's possession percentage reached 68.5%, the highest since the arrival of the German coach, in addition to 637 accurate passes in a 90-minute match and a passing accuracy that reached 89.6%.

In contrast, the newspaper noted that Real Madrid did not need to dominate the ball to threaten Barcelona's goal, as they made 23 shots in total, the highest number against Barcelona during Flick's era, including 10 direct shots on goal, thanks to the intense offensive performance of the white team.

Mundo Deportivo also explained that Real Madrid, which had been caught offside 12 times during the classic they lost to Barcelona 4-0 last season, only had 5 instances this time, in a match that saw the highest number of corners (12) against Barcelona, which appeared less intense in pressure and control, while the Catalan team committed only nine fouls throughout the match.
