British newspaper 'The Mirror' reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of Manchester United, has halted the transfer deal for Polish star Robert Lewandowski to the team, despite coach Ruben Amorim's desire to sign him during the upcoming summer.

According to the newspaper, Amorim expressed admiration for the veteran striker's abilities and believed he could provide the team with additional experience and help develop young players. However, Ratcliffe completely rejected the idea, insisting that he does not want to repeat past mistakes when the club signed players at the end of their careers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, which resulted in significant financial losses.

The same source indicated that Lewandowski, who is 37 years old, is in the final year of his contract with Barcelona and earns a weekly salary of around £540,000, a figure that does not align with the new financial policy Ratcliffe is implementing at Old Trafford.

The Polish star's contract with Barcelona ends in the summer of 2026, with expectations that he will not renew it and will seek a new destination at the end of the season. However, Manchester United seems to be out of the equation following their owner's decision.
