The Spanish Federation Requests Clarification from the Higher Sports Council Regarding the Miami Match
The Spanish Football Federation has officially requested clarification from the Higher Sports Council about the procedures it intends to take regarding the match between Barcelona and Villarreal scheduled to be held in Miami on December 20, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo".
This request comes in response to a letter sent by the Spanish government on October 6, in which it requested detailed information about the match, which received approval from UEFA to be held outside Spanish territory.
The newspaper clarified that the Spanish Federation confirmed in its response that the Higher Sports Council does not have the legal authority to intervene in this matter, based on the current Spanish Sports Law.
The Federation also requested the Higher Sports Council to clarify its position regarding the letter sent by Real Madrid, in which the club expressed its strong opposition to holding the match in the United States.
Real Madrid had issued an official statement on August 12, expressing its opposition to holding the match in Miami, emphasizing that any match of this nature can only be approved with the collective consent of all concerned clubs.
