Wydad Athletic Club Faces Asante Kotoko in African Confederation Cup in Accra

The eyes of Moroccan fans in general, and Wydad Athletic Club supporters in particular, will be on Accra Sports Stadium tomorrow afternoon, anticipating the return of the red team to African competitions, but this time through the African Confederation Cup, after years of participation in the African Champions League.

Wydad Athletic Club is preparing to play the first leg against Ghana's Asante Kotoko in the second preliminary round of the competition, tomorrow Sunday at 4 PM (GMT +1), in a strong matchup against a historic team with a long history in African championships.

The management of the Casablanca club has ensured all suitable conditions for an ideal stay in the Ghanaian capital, including accommodation, logistics, and training fields.

In this context, Kamal El-Dissawi, the club's vice president and head of the Wydad delegation in Accra, praised the significant support provided by the Moroccan Embassy in Ghana to facilitate the team's arrival and ensure a comfortable stay before the anticipated match.

El-Dissawi explained that Wydad arrived in Accra last Thursday morning, three days before the match, to ensure harmony and adjustment to the atmosphere, and to give the coaching staff enough time for physical and tactical preparation.

For his part, Ibrahim El-Nakach, the assistant coach and former team captain, confirmed that the players are "aware of the importance of the match" and are striving to achieve a positive result away from home, adding that "first leg matches are often difficult, especially in the knockout stages."

El-Nakach pointed out that all team members are fully prepared, except for the duo Walid Sabbar and Hamza El-Wasti, who have been absent due to injury since the beginning of the season, emphasizing that preparations are proceeding in an ideal atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Zouhair El-Aroubi, the goalkeeping coach, expressed his satisfaction with the conditions of accommodation and training, confirming that the team "has high-level goalkeepers," and that the technical staff aims to transfer their African experience to players who are experiencing this for the first time.

Wydad Athletic Club is expected to conduct its official training session this afternoon, Saturday, at the same time the match will take place, on the grounds of Accra Sports Stadium, after holding its previous sessions at the University of Ghana.
