Real Madrid Responds to Barcelona's Youth Project with Promising Reinforcements
Sunday 07-09-2025
Real Madrid has begun clear movements to keep pace with the youth project adopted by Barcelona, having strengthened its squad this summer with three promising young players: 20-year-old Dean Hausen, 22-year-old Alvaro Carreras, and 18-year-old Franco Mastantuno, who have become active elements in coach Xabi Alonso's lineup, especially in defense.

Meanwhile, Barcelona continues to rely on a new generation of La Masia players such as Lamine Yamal, Kobarsi, Gavi, Balde, Firmin, and Casado, along with young players from outside the academy like Pedri, Koundé, Juan Garcia, and Ferran Torres.

Real Madrid had one of the highest average ages in its history during the 2022/2023 season (30.1 years), but it has gradually reduced this figure to 24.9 years in its last match against Mallorca, while the average age of the current lineup is 25.8 years, behind Barcelona (25.4) and Real Sociedad (25.6).

With the departure of players like Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez, only a limited number of players over the age of thirty remain in Real Madrid, the most notable being Courtois, Alaba, Rudiger, Carvajal, and Mendy.

The direct confrontation between the youth projects of both clubs will be decided on the field, and the first real test will be on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, when Real Madrid faces Barcelona in the highly anticipated Clasico, with great anticipation for the performance of the young talents.
