Vazquez: I spoke with Alonso before joining Leverkusen
Spanish player Lucas Vazquez, the new right-back for Bayer Leverkusen, expressed his gratitude to coach Xabi Alonso, confirming that he spoke with him before completing his transfer to the German league.
Vazquez said in a statement during his presentation at the German club: "Yes, I spoke with Xabi before my arrival. He praised everything about Bayer Leverkusen, and I am grateful for his help."
Vazquez officially signed a contract with Leverkusen that extends until the summer of 2027, in a free transfer after his contract with Real Madrid ended this summer.
It is worth noting that the player previously worked with Xabi Alonso for several weeks during Real Madrid's participation in the Club World Cup.
