Officially: Bayer Leverkusen Announces the Signing of Lucas Vazquez

The German club Bayer Leverkusen officially announced its signing of Spanish star Lucas Vazquez, the former Real Madrid player, in a free transfer after the end of his contract with the royal team at the end of last season.

The 34-year-old player signed a contract with Leverkusen until June 30, 2027, and will wear the number 21 jersey with the team.

Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, said: "Lucas Vazquez is a player with immense experience, having won every possible title with Real Madrid over the past ten years. He possesses high technical and tactical abilities, is a skilled playmaker, and a leader on the field. We are confident that he will be a strong asset for the team and will have a clear impact on our style of play."

Vazquez expressed his happiness at joining Leverkusen, saying: "I look forward to starting a new chapter in my career with an ambitious club like Bayer Leverkusen. Coach Xabi Alonso and my former teammate Carvajal have told me a lot about the club, and I confirmed through my discussions with the management that the team always strives to win and sets high goals, which is the same mentality I believe in."
