The Spanish club Barcelona announced today, Wednesday, the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, lasting four years, aimed at promoting football, spreading the culture of sports, and embodying the values of peace.
According to the agreement, the club's professional teams will wear the Democratic Republic of the Congo - Heart of Africa logo on the back of their training shirts during the next four seasons, in a move symbolizing the strengthening of relations between the two parties.
The Spotify Camp Nou stadium will host a permanent location named the House of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is an interactive exhibition showcasing the cultural diversity and sports traditions of this African country, aiming to enhance cultural and sports ties with fans and visitors.
The Catalan club will contribute to the development of sports within the Congo by training young athletes through comprehensive sports programs that include football, basketball, handball, futsal, and hockey, as part of the academy system, camps, and training courses.
Additionally, Barcelona's Innovation Center will provide specialized training programs for adult coaches, covering areas of advanced technical training, age group structuring, integration of sports sciences, and organizing sports events.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that the value of the agreement has not been officially announced yet, but estimates suggest it amounts to 40 million euros, at a rate of 10 million euros per season, representing significant financial support for the club at this stage.
