Officially: Barcelona signs a new deal to strengthen the youth team
The Spanish club Barcelona has officially announced the signing of young midfielder Roger Martinez on a free transfer, as part of the plan to strengthen the BarçAthletic team during the current summer transfer window.
Barcelona stated in its announcement that the player signed a contract extending until June 30, 2027, after successfully passing the medical examinations and visiting the club's facilities, in preparation for joining the reserve team's training under coach Giuliano Belletti.
This signing marks a second return for the 21-year-old Martinez to the Catalan club, as he previously played in Barcelona's youth categories from 2013 to 2016, before moving to Cornella and then Espanyol.
Martinez has played matches with Espanyol's first team in La Liga and the Copa del Rey, and last season he was loaned to Lugo, where he participated in 34 matches and scored one goal in the third division.
The player has international experience with Spanish youth national teams, ranging from under 15 to under 19.
