Tahir Abu Zeid, the former star of Al Ahly, praised the players of the red team after the performance they delivered against the Brazilian Palmeiras despite the loss.

Al Ahly lost to Palmeiras with a score of 2-0 in a match that took place in the second round of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Abu Zeid said during the "Ya Masaa Al Anwar" program on MBC Masr 2: "Al Ahly made a wonderful effort against Palmeiras, but the Brazilian team knew exactly what it wanted from the match and allowed Al Ahly to have possession without giving them a chance to threaten their goal."

Regarding Palmeiras' first goal, Abu Zeid said: "The ball entered the hardest part of the goal, and Wisam Abu Ali was unlucky, as Ashraf Dari made a mistake when he leaned his body on Wisam, which caused a loss of control over the ball, and it seemed as if the duo had their eyes closed at the moment of the goal."

He added: "The stoppage of the match due to bad weather was a turning point; some thought it was in favor of Al Ahly, while others saw it differently, but in the end, we cannot harshly judge the players. The team did everything it could, and the match was affected by factors beyond their control."

He concluded: "Palmeiras does not have a large number of stars, but it is an organized and pragmatic team, and this is the main reason for its superiority in the match."
