Bassem Qassem: We haven't received our dues for 6 months.. and the VAR room is unfair
The coach of Al-Student Club, Bassem Qassem, expressed his intense anger after his team's loss to Erbil by a goal to nil in the match held at Francois Hariri Stadium during the 34th round of the Iraqi Stars League, confirming that the difficult circumstances the team is going through have affected the overall performance and results.
Qassem said in fiery statements after the match:
"It is unreasonable to ask the players to give their best when they haven't received their dues for more than 6 months! The financial situation is catastrophic, and the continuous delay has clearly affected everyone's morale within the club, from players to coaching staff."
He added angrily:
"Is it reasonable to compete and fight every week under these circumstances? The player needs his basic rights to give everything he has, and I say it frankly: The club's management must resolve this issue immediately, as it has started to negatively reflect on the results."
Bassem Qassem also launched a scathing attack on the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) room, questioning the fairness of some decisions in the match, and said:
"The video room was not fair, and there were decisions that affected the course of the match. It is unfortunate that the efforts of an entire team are wasted due to refereeing mistakes that were not corrected despite the presence of technology."
He concluded his remarks by saying:
"Al-Student is a big team with a huge fan base, and what is happening is not befitting of its name. We will continue to work, but we cannot go on like this without real administrative and financial support."
