Ahmed Salah Announces Readiness to Face Erbil Tomorrow

Tuesday 19-05-2026
Police coach Ahmed Salah confirmed his team's full readiness to face Erbil tomorrow as part of the 36th round of the Iraq Stars League, emphasizing that preparations have proceeded naturally despite the importance of the match against a competitor he described as 'technically distinguished.'

Salah said in the pre-match press conference that his team is treating the match like any other league encounter, but he does not underestimate its value as it is against a team with an experienced technical staff and a group of good players, especially the professionals who make the difference in such confrontations.

He added that the Green Fortress has not faced any problems in terms of injuries or absences, except for the absence of player Manaf Younis due to an accumulation of yellow cards. He explained that the rest of the players are fully ready, noting that he has great confidence in all the elements and their ability to make a difference whenever the opportunity arises.

The coach stressed that the experience of the Police players will be an important factor in tomorrow's confrontation, especially under the pressure accompanying the final stages of the league. He explained that a decline in some periods of the season is expected for any team, but he praised the Police's journey as champions of the past four seasons, confirming that the team is still a strong contender for the current season's title.

Salah downplayed the importance of following other teams' results, saying that the technical staff and players only look at what they present on the field. 'We respect everyone, but our focus is on delivering a level befitting the Police and achieving a result that makes our fans happy,' he added, stating that the goal is clear: to collect the three points and continue chasing the lead until the final round.

For his part, Police midfielder Atheer Saleh spoke about the team's preparations, confirming that the technical staff accurately identified Erbil's strengths and weaknesses during the technical analysis. He said the task now falls on the players to adhere to instructions and fulfill their duties on the field.

Saleh stressed that the players' focus will be present from the start whistle, as any moment of distraction could cost the team dearly at this crucial time. He explained that the shared goal in the locker room is to achieve the full match points without entering into complex calculations.

Tomorrow's confrontation represents an important test for the Police before two rounds from the end. The team is required to win to continue putting pressure on the leading Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and keep their chances alive in the title race.
