Karbala Club coach, Captain Abbas Atiyah, expressed his great disappointment after the heavy loss against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the 33rd round of the Iraqi Stars League, in a match that ended with a score of 4-1 at Karbala International Stadium.

Despite the heavy score, Atiyah insisted that his team had good periods during the match, but suffered from a lack of concentration and poor coverage at critical moments, affirming at the same time that the accumulated problems greatly affected the performance and stability within the group.

Atiyah said in the press conference after the match:

"I won't hide it from you, we feel bitter about this result, because it does not reflect the effort that the players put in for a large part of the match. We played competitively at times, but individual mistakes and a lack of experience were the main reasons for this harsh fall."

He added: "We have been suffering from very difficult circumstances since the beginning of the season, the most prominent of which is the FIFA-imposed penalty that prevents the club from making contracts, which has created a huge gap between ambitions and available capabilities. We are playing with a limited group of names, most of them are young, and this affects the balance within the squad."

The Karbala coach continued: "A team like Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya has experienced players and a strong attacking force, and any mistake costs you a lot against them, and that’s what happened. Despite that, we still believe that Karbala has not been relegated yet, and the opportunity is still there as long as we fight until the last moment."

He concluded by saying: "I call on the Karbala fans and the administration to be patient with the team, because the only solution now is unity and support. We do not have a magic wand, but we have the will, and we will do everything we can to escape the relegation zone. We need a real stand and not just criticisms from the outside."
