Karbala Officially Announces Lifting of International Ban

Karbala FC has officially announced the lifting of its FIFA ban after settling all financial obligations related to coach Slavchev Fojinski.

This was stated in an official letter issued by FIFA on August 3, 2026, and signed by the head of the Disciplinary Committee, Americo Espalargas, confirming the final closure of the proceedings against the club.

The letter stated: "We would like to inform you that the lawsuit against Karbala FC has been closed, and the ban on registering any new players has been permanently lifted. Accordingly, we request the Iraqi Football Association to immediately lift the ban imposed on the club at the local level."

FIFA has clarified that this decision relates solely to the case referenced and is not connected to any other sanctions that may be imposed on the club in different matters.

The case began after a previous ruling from FIFA's dispute committee in favor of the Macedonian coach, which resulted in a ban on Karbala from registering players at both local and international levels.

After negotiations and a financial settlement, the club's management has paid the full outstanding amount, prompting the affected party to request the closure of the case, which FIFA has promptly agreed to.

The lifting of the ban comes at a crucial time for Karbala, who have recently returned to the Iraqi Premier League after several seasons away.

The decision will now enable the management to conclude new contracts and register players freely before the start of the 2026-2027 season, without any administrative or legal restrictions.

The club's management has confirmed that this step will pave the way for an extensive recruitment plan aimed at strengthening the team's ranks to compete vigorously in the league and maintain its status among the elite.
