Rudy Garcia Praises Courtois: He Says What He Thinks and Loves to Win
Wednesday 07-05-2025
Belgium national team coach Rudy Garcia praised the goalkeeper of his country and Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois, confirming that his strong personality and great ambition make him one of the standout players in the team.

Garcia said: "Courtois says what he thinks and loves to win, and I also love to win with Belgium. When the results are not good, he feels the pain. I need players who love to win. Sometimes he may say more than what he thinks, but I prefer the player to be honest and express what he feels."

Garcia did not limit his comments to Courtois only, but also praised other goalkeepers in Belgium, such as Matz Sels and Mike Benders, pointing out that Belgium has a strong school in this position and said: "We have a great goalkeeping school in Belgium, and it is something we should be proud of."

In another context, Garcia talked about the captain of the Belgian national team, Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season. Garcia said: "We will continue to rely on De Bruyne in the qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup, regardless of his future direction."

Garcia also raised the idea of De Bruyne moving to the Saudi league, saying: "If he moves to Saudi Arabia, that could be a good step. There are fewer time differences and easier transfers. But if he chooses to stay in Europe, he does not need to play every three days."

Garcia concluded his statements by emphasizing the importance of De Bruyne in the national team, saying: "In the return match in Genk, he was the leader we needed. We need him to leave through the big door."
