Inzaghi: We deserved to reach the final, and Barcelona's player is exceptional
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi spoke in a press statement after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League final, winning 4-3 against Barcelona in the second leg of the semi-final, noting that the first leg ended 3-3.
The coach said: "We must also commend Barcelona, as they are a truly strong opponent, and it required a fantastic performance from Inter, so I praise my players for their amazing performance in both legs."
He added: "This was the only way to reach the final, and I am very proud to be their coach, they gave their all, and those who came on as substitutes also had the right spirit."
He emphasized: "They should enjoy every moment in front of these fans, we are very happy. They were a role model. I urged the players to believe in our ability to limit Barcelona's danger, even though it wasn't easy. We had Lautaro, Dumfries, and Frattesi, but they weren't in peak physical condition, so we had to give our all to overcome every obstacle."
He continued: "We tried to play to our strengths. We were never arrogant; we gave everything we could and deserved to reach the final."
He concluded by praising Frenkie de Jong: "A lot has been said about Yamal, but I saw another exceptional player during these two matches who was out injured the last time we played against them. I was impressed by Frenkie de Jong just like Yamal; he handles the ball well and passes it brilliantly at times. He is fantastic. I wouldn't swap my players for anyone else in the world, but during both legs, I found De Jong truly amazing."
