About the Team

Angola. The Angola national football team is the official representative of the Republic of Angola in international tournaments, overseen by the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), which was established in 1979 and joined FIFA in 1980. The Angolan team is considered one of the prominent teams in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, having achieved its most notable accomplishment by qualifying for the World Cup once in 2006. It has also participated several times in the Africa Cup of Nations and achieved some remarkable results against major continental teams. The team is known by the nickname "the fighting forces" (Palancas Negras) and plays its matches at the November 11 National Stadium in Luanda and sometimes at other venues within the country.
