Qatar national team coach Marques Lopez stressed the importance of scoring points in tomorrow's match against the UAE.

The Qatari national team will meet its counterpart, the UAE national team, tomorrow, Tuesday, in the sixth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Lopez said in the introductory press conference for the match: “We got an important morale boost by defeating Uzbekistan in the last round, and we seek to gain points in our match with the Emirates.”

He added: “The preparations were short, and the absence of Abdullah Al-Yazidi for 6 weeks will be impactful, but we have players who will be able to compensate for his absence.”

He continued: “The Emirates is an excellent team, but tomorrow’s match is different. In our first match we were superior in the first half, and we conceded goals from counter-attacks, and when you give 100% of your level, you will be able to win.”

He denied fatigue for the Qatari players, saying: “There may be mental fatigue that affects some players in matches and not others, but everyone is technically and physically prepared for the match with the Emirates.”
