Awad: I thank the fans who supported us today

Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad commented on his team’s qualification to the Egyptian Super Cup final after defeating Pyramids on penalties, 5-4, on Sunday evening.

Awad said in his statements to Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, after the end of the match: “I thank the fans who supported us today, the board of directors, the technical staff and also the players, and there was great success for us in the penalty shootout.”

He continued: “Zamalek is a big team that always plays for championships, and after Pyramids’ first goal, we started focusing well, and we were able to come back with the equalizer, and thank God, Pyramids’ second goal was offside.”

He added: “Al-Jaziri is one of the stars of the match, and I thank him for his effort, and I also thank all the players and we deserve to be happy, and we need to make a greater effort to achieve the Super Cup in the next match.”
