Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois announced that he will not return to playing with the Belgian national team until the leadership of the current coach Domenico Tedesco.

Courtois wrote: “I want to address the fans Belgians and supporters of our national team.”

He added: “Unfortunately, after the events with the coach and after a lot of thought, I have decided not to return to the Belgian national team under his management.”

He continued: “My lack of confidence in the coach will not contribute to maintaining the necessary atmosphere, and the federation, with whom I had several discussions, agreed to my position and the reasons that led me to this painful but coherent decision.”

He concluded: “I am sorry to disappoint some fans, but I am convinced that this is the best course of action for Belgium, because it closes the debate and allows the team to focus on pursuing its goals.”
