Officially.. Real Madrid Announces Signing Mourinho
The Spanish club Real Madrid announced today, Thursday, its signing with Portuguese coach José Mourinho to take charge of the first team starting from the upcoming 2026/2027 season.
In an official statement, the club said: "The Real Madrid Board of Directors, in its meeting today, Thursday, June 11, chaired by Florentino Pérez, approved the appointment of José Mourinho as the first team coach for the next three seasons, until 2029."
The statement added: "José Mourinho will join Real Madrid on July 13, the day when the preparatory program for the new season begins."
The Portuguese coach returns to lead the royal team once again, after a previous period from 2010 to 2013, during which he won the Spanish League title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, in one of his most notable coaching periods with the club.
According to press reports, Real Madrid paid around 15 million euros, the value of the release clause in Mourinho's contract with the Portuguese club Benfica, to complete the deal officially.
