Penders: The penalty was not correct, and Sunderland made our task difficult
Mike Penders, Chelsea's goalkeeper, spoke about his team's loss to Sunderland by a goal to nil in the Premier League, expressing his disappointment with the result and questioning the validity of the penalty awarded to the home side.
Mike Penders said: "When you come to this stadium, you know the match will be tough, and that is exactly what happened tonight. We knew the encounter would be challenging, and we feel disappointed about the loss."
He added: "At one stage of the match, the play was moving quickly from side to side, and we sometimes had to control the tempo; when 11 players drop back behind the ball, it becomes difficult to find spaces."
Chelsea goalkeeper stated: "Whether you perform well or not, it’s about staying united. The international break is approaching, so players can calm their minds, and when we all return, we need to have the motivation to start again."
Regarding the penalty awarded to Sunderland, Penders said: "For me, it wasn't a penalty, he barely touched him, and I think it was the other way around, he was the one who held him."
