Horrific injury ends Tenerife and Andorra match in the second division

The match between Tenerife and Andorra, in the Spanish Segunda División, witnessed a serious incident that led to the game being stopped after a violent collision between Andorra's goalkeeper Ouno and Tenerife's forward Jesús de Miguel during stoppage time of the second half.

The incident occurred when De Miguel chased a high ball near the halfway line, before goalkeeper Ouno, who was the last defender for his team, rushed in to try to clear the ball, resulting in a heavy collision between the two players, leaving the Tenerife forward unconscious on the pitch.

Players from both teams rushed to request medical intervention, as Di Miguel was carried off on a stretcher amid concern and shock among players and fans. Meanwhile, the referee showed a red card to the Andorra goalkeeper for his violent intervention.

Tenerife's striker suffered a cardiac arrest following a collision, before the medical team was able to stabilize his condition inside the ambulance, and he was then transported to La Candelaria Hospital, while initial reports indicated that he continued to be unconscious.

Tenerife issued an official statement confirming that the player has been admitted to the intensive care unit at the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, stating that his condition is stable despite its seriousness, and that the medical team continues to monitor his health status, with a commitment to announce any updates as soon as they become available.

The match had been stopped with the score indicating a draw of two goals for each team, before referee Pérez Hernández decided to end the encounter and not continue it, after consulting with the captains of both teams and the coaching staff, in light of the risk of player injury.
