Dilemma for Simeone: Romero between Bayern Munich clash and Barcelona showdown

Cristian Romero faces uncertainty over his fitness ahead of a crucial week for Atlético, which includes heavyweight clashes against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League and FC Barcelona in LaLiga.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Diego Simeone faces a dilemma regarding how to benefit from Cristian Romero's services in the two matches, given the need to stop the attacking strength of the opponents, especially since the Argentine defender is one of the important elements in the team's backline.

Cristian Romero returned to Atlético's squad for the recent match against Levante after recovering from physical issues that kept him out of the matches against VfB Stuttgart and Deportivo La Coruña. However, he did not participate in the victory over Levante. He also trained in the gym on Monday, without taking part in the team training on the pitch, raising doubts about his ability to start against Bayern Munich.

Although his participation for a few minutes against the German team remains possible, the indications suggest that Simeone is unlikely to rush him back, with the possibility of holding him back for the match against FC Barcelona at the weekend, which will require dealing with the threat of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. The Argentine coach is also considering the injury record that Romero has suffered over recent seasons, which makes it necessary for him to manage his minutes carefully to avoid another setback.
