Malin edges out Harry Kane to top the scoring charts in major European leagues
Donyell Malen continues to impress with AS Roma, as he has taken the lead in the list of the top scorers in the top five European leagues for 2026, surpassing England's Harry Kane, who recently won the Ballon d'Or.
Malin has reached 22 goals in league matches since the beginning of the year after scoring against Udinese on Saturday during AS Roma's big 5-2 win, putting him one goal ahead of Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich striker, who has 21 goals. The Dutch forward also leads FC Barcelona stars Raphinha, who has 21 goals, and Lamine Yamal, who has scored 19 goals, as well as Kylian Mbappé with 18 goals and Erling Haaland with 17 goals.
According to the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Malin scored his first goal with AS Roma against Torino on January 18, just one day after arriving in the Italian capital from Aston Villa. He then added 21 more goals in 27 league matches, averaging 0.8 goals per game, as well as five goals scored in various cup competitions.
This notable shift in the player's career came under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini, as he found a more prominent attacking role in AS Roma, where he was primarily relied upon as a central striker, unlike his experience with Aston Villa, where he struggled to establish himself, scoring 10 goals in 46 matches.
Malin is set to return to England on Tuesday, when he faces Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League, in a new test to continue his scoring brilliance.
