SSC Napoli prioritises Federico Gatti for defensive reinforcement in January

SSC Napoli have begun their efforts to bolster their defensive line during the upcoming winter transfer window, with the management keen to add a new defender to the squad. Federico Gatti, a defender from Juventus, is among the top targeted names.

According to the Italian network "Tutto Mercato", Gatti is at the top of the list of options for sporting director Giovani Manna and coach Massimiliano Allegri, who knows the capabilities of the Italian defender well after working with him during his previous stint at Juventus.

Gatti has struggled for playing time at the start of the season due to some ankle issues, but he has gradually regained his place under Luciano Spalletti, participating in the last two matches against US Lecce and Genoa. This may lead him to reconsider his future with the team before January.

The report indicated that SSC Napoli has previously made exploratory contacts and inquired about the possibility of signing the player in recent months, without reaching formal negotiations so far, with the possibility of renewing efforts in the coming weeks in preparation for an attempt to finalize the deal in the winter transfer window.
