Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, is under increasing pressure that threatens his future with the team following a 2-0 loss to Chelsea in the latest round of the Premier League. This continues the struggles for the Red Devils, who have failed to secure a victory in their last 9 matches.

According to the British newspaper "Daily Mirror", Manchester United's management has decided to grant Michael Carrick at least two additional matches, against AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League and Aston Villa in the Premier League, before making a decision regarding his future, with a tendency within the club to postpone any move until the next international break.

The loss to Chelsea has complicated the situation for the English manager, after Manchester United took the lead in the first half with a goal that was disallowed for offside on Matheus Cunha. They then conceded a goal from Morgan Rogers in the second half, and their struggles intensified after Lisandro Martínez was sent off and a penalty was awarded from which Cole Palmer scored the second goal.

Manchester United's position in the table has slipped, as the team started the round in 16th place, level on points with Crystal Palace in 17th, and just one point ahead of Nottingham Forest and Coventry in 18th and 19th respectively, while Sunderland, at the bottom of the table, is only two points behind.

As Michael Carrick awaits matches against AS Roma and Aston Villa, speculation about his potential successor is increasing, with Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann mentioned as candidates. According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Nagelsmann has also been linked with interest from Juventus, as the Italian club searches for a replacement for Luciano Spalletti.

Despite the pressure, Carrick confirmed that he expects to lead Manchester United in the upcoming match against AS Roma, as he answered positively when asked about his continuation in the role, emphasizing his focus on preparing the players for the European clash.

These developments coincided with a sense of frustration within the team, as Bruno Fernandes appeared deeply affected after the final whistle, while the players gathered to greet the fans who traveled to support them. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martínez's red card sparked widespread criticism, with former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel holding the Argentine defender largely responsible for the defeat, criticizing his actions and performance during the match.
