Gasperini: Dybala's situation is not resolved and Svilar's return is approaching
Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of AS Roma, has stated that Paulo Dybala's position for the match against Cagliari has not yet been determined, indicating that he could be on the bench while awaiting an assessment of his condition during the final training session.
The coach said: "We will see this afternoon if we can bring him to the bench, and that would indeed be positive," explaining that he will determine rotation options based on player readiness and the nature of the opponent.
Gasperini spoke about his team's development, emphasizing that the ongoing goal is to improve performance, noting that AS Roma has reached a clear and consistent style of play that delivers results.
He added that the team has an environment that helps players to take initiative and be bold, while continuing individual and collective development. He also praised the level of Matías Soulé, confirming that the 23-year-old Argentine player still has a significant margin for development and to gain more confidence and experience.
Regarding the criticisms directed by Massimiliano Allegri, the coach of Milan, earlier, Gasperini stated that he did not hear the remarks himself but was informed about them, adding: "There are numbers, testimonies, and our data and the data of other teams, and I have not read a comment that supports this statement, which seems really unfortunate to me." The coach refused to go into further details, confirming that there was no need to add anything else.
AS Roma's coach discussed his team's performance in big matches, explaining that these encounters are influenced by the quality of execution and the ability to capitalize on opportunities. He pointed out his team's comeback against SSC Napoli after being two goals down, before the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
The team defended its attacking approach, stating that AS Roma came out well from these encounters despite some difficulties, and that the coaching staff continues to analyze mistakes and work on improving defensive details.
Regarding the medical condition of the players, Gasperini indicated that Koné's return before the international break seems unlikely, while the team may regain their goalkeeper Svilar during the next week, with the possibility of preparing him for the match against Manchester United or the following game against US Sassuolo.
He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that AS Roma have managed to hold firm and achieve results despite the absence of several players, such as Paulo Dybala, Konyé, and Pellegrini. He stressed that the pressure of matches every three days makes dealing with injuries a natural part of the challenges of the season.
