Gasperini: Proud of Roma's reaction against Napoli and we aimed for victory
Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of AS Roma, expressed his satisfaction with his players' reaction during the thrilling draw against SSC Napoli, which ended 3-3, in the match that took place in the eighth round of Serie A. He confirmed that the team showed strong character and great ability to come back despite falling behind on several occasions.
Gasperini stated in his remarks after the match: "I am completely satisfied, except for the first half hour, when SSC Napoli were superior to us and caused us difficulties in getting the ball out and creating chances, but we improved at the end of the first half and delivered a strong second half, feeling that we were capable of winning the match."
AS Roma's coach added: "Napoli's third goal could have shattered our morale, but we managed to come back thanks to our strength and belief in our abilities. We were calm and didn't rush, maintaining our style of play and positions on the pitch, and Matías Soulé had an exceptional match, while the substitutes played an important role in changing the course of the game."
Gasperini concluded his statements by affirming that his team is experiencing a positive period, stating that the draw against a competitor the size of SSC Napoli provides the players with an important morale boost, despite feeling that AS Roma could have secured all three points, especially after coming back from behind twice during the match.
