Simeone: I appreciate those who ask for forgiveness, and Alvarez is a great player
Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atlético, praised Julián Alvarez's apology, expressing his appreciation for the player, following his team's victory over Deportivo La Coruña.
Diego Simeone spoke about Julián Alvarez's apology: "I greatly appreciate people who ask for forgiveness, as it is not easy. When someone apologizes out of emotion, from the depths of their feelings, I value that a lot. Julián Alvarez is a wonderful young man, humble, hardworking, and respectful, and his teammates love him. I thank him for his apology, as it brings him back to the status he deserves."
He added regarding this step: "Honestly, I am not in a position to judge whether it is right or wrong. Life goes on, different situations arise, and everyone faces what comes before them. This has happened, and welcome it."
Atlético Madrid's coach spoke about Julián Alvarez's performance and the support from the fans, saying: "Julián Alvarez had a fantastic match, and the fans cheered in celebration of the goal, just as they do when their team scores, whether it was Julián or any other player. I appreciated the effort he put in, as he delivered a performance at a very high level, repeating his display from the last UEFA Champions League match, and we are starting to see the best version of Julián again."
He added: "We need Julián at this level to achieve the club's goals and meet our fans' aspirations."
Regarding the atmosphere of apology in the dressing room, Simeone explained: "We dealt with the matter very calmly, because he is a great person, and he has always behaved well. We know each other well, and we are aware of the stages he has gone through, and he has always respected the players, his teammates, physiotherapists, and the press workers."
Speaking about the importance of the win, he said: "I am happy with today's result, as we won a complicated match. Julián contributed to the score, just like he did in VfB Stuttgart when he gave us a point in the last match; in this encounter, he gave us three points."
