Alonso: We feel a great disappointment, and we should have performed better

Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's manager, expressed his disappointment following the defeat to Tottenham by two goals to nil, confirming that the team did not deliver the expected performance on both collective and individual levels.

Alonso said: "We all feel disappointed with the result, as we were not at our best, both collectively and individually. The match was linked to their first goal, and after playing with ten men, things became more difficult, but we could have performed better."

The coach added: "Chances were the most important factor in the match, as they had few opportunities, and so did we. We talked at half-time about the need to be patient and mature, but we know we are capable of doing better."

Chelsea manager said: "We wanted to achieve fluidity in midfield, utilizing the spaces between the lines through Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. There were some situations where we succeeded, but overall we needed to perform better."

Regarding the own goal scored by goalkeeper Mike Benders, Alonso said: "We feel sorry for everyone, as it is about the team as a whole, and we have to get past what happened and keep working."

He concluded his remarks regarding Cole Palmer's red card after receiving two yellow cards, stating: "I did not see the two incidents."
