Arsenal and Liverpool compete to sign Aleksey Batrakov
Arsenal and Liverpool have entered the race to sign Russian Aleksey Batrakov, a Galatasaray player, as both clubs have intensified their interest in acquiring him, according to TEAMtalk.
The site clarified that representatives from both clubs attended northern France on Wednesday to watch the 21-year-old player, who scored a goal during the 4-2 victory.
Aleksey Batrakov is also attracting interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City, as these clubs have previously monitored his development. Paris Saint-Germain was also interested in signing him but prioritized other deals, allowing Galatasaray to secure his transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow for €25 million.
The player has made a serious start with his Turkish team, scoring two goals and providing two assists in six matches as a starter. His move to Türkiye has also given English clubs the opportunity to sign him, as British sanctions related to the war in Ukraine prevented a direct deal with the Russian club.
The same source indicated that Aleksey Batrakov's contract includes a release clause valued at around £50 million, permitting him to move to one of the top four leagues in England, Spain, Italy, or Germany.
Despite interest from English clubs, Galatasaray do not wish to part with the player at this time, as they are satisfied with his performances since joining. However, the release clause could open the door for his departure if one of the interested clubs decides to make a formal move for him.
