Shalata: I went for trials at Al Ahly and they rejected me

Modi Shalata, star of Qanah FC, commented on the valuable draw his team achieved against Al Ahly in the Egyptian League, praising the special goal he scored against goalkeeper Mostafa Shobair.

Shalata stated in an interview with Karim Ramzy on Mega FM: "The past period has not been the best for me, but I entered the match against Al Ahly confident of delivering a great performance in appreciation of Abdel Nasser Mohamed, who has supported me a lot during the past period."

He added: "The nickname Shalata comes from my father. I dreamed of playing in the Egyptian League, but everything comes at the right time. I started my career at Benha and went for trials at Al Ahly and Zamalek, but I did not succeed in the Al Ahly trials and I was sad to leave Al Ahly. However, my father told me that Barakat failed the Al Ahly trials and then returned as a great player."

He added: "I rejected Zamalek's options because of the distance and my whole family supports Al Ahly. There was a fear when facing Al Ahly, and we looked good, and I told myself I had to do something for myself against Al Ahly."

He added: "My team was very close to achieving victory over Al Ahly yesterday in the Egyptian League, and Mohamed Hany is a great player and a great captain, but I did not focus on Mohamed Hany; all I was looking at was myself and to provide something for myself, my coach, and my team."

Mohamed Hany expressed his sadness after the draw against Al Ahly, stating, "We felt sadness in front of Al Ahly due to the draw, but Al Ahly is known for their ability to equalize in stoppage time. Overall, we delivered a remarkable performance. I dream of going to the Egypt national team and pursuing a professional career. Discussing Al Ahly and Zamalek is premature, and God is generous."
