Manchester United plans to extend Maguire's contract
Manchester United are planning to keep Harry Maguire for an additional year by activating the extension clause in his contract, which expires at the end of the current season, according to the iPaper, as reported by TEAMtalk.
The club's owners are inclined to retain the 33-year-old English defender due to his experience and leadership role in the dressing room, as well as his contribution to helping young players cope with pressure.
Harry Maguire has played 280 matches for Manchester United across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists.
In contrast, Lisandro Martínez's future remains undecided, despite Manchester United having the option to extend his contract by another year. Journalist Graeme Bailey clarified via "TEAMtalk" that the Argentine defender's continuation is not guaranteed.
Lisandro Martínez is attracting interest from Atlético and Inter Milan, as he considers the possibility of leaving Manchester United next summer after being publicly criticized by the club's sporting director, Jason Wilcox, earlier this month, before he later apologized.
Luke Shaw, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027, has seen talks begin between Manchester United and his agents regarding an extension. Billy confirmed that United are open to his continuation, but his readiness, participation, and high salary will influence the decision, and he may need to accept a pay cut to sign a new contract.
