Omar Najhi rejects assistant role to Nasser Eddine Nabi at Wydad Casablanca
Omar Najhi has apologized for taking the position of assistant coach to Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi, who is a candidate to lead Wydad Casablanca in the coming hours, preferring to continue his coaching career as a head coach.
Reports indicate that Najhi has turned down an offer to work in the upcoming coaching staff of Nabi, wishing to maintain his career as a head coach and not return to an assistant role.
Najhi, the former coach of Ittihad Tanger and Mouloudia Oujda, previously held the position of assistant coach to Walid Regragui at Wydad Casablanca, contributing to their triumphs in the CAF Champions League and the professional league.
In a related context, Wydad Casablanca officials have not yet reached an agreement with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio to mutually terminate the contract that binds him to the club, according to the same sources. This remains one of the issues facing the management of the red team as they work to identify the next coach.
Wydad Casablanca hopes that the signing of Nasreddine Nabi will be a step towards regaining positive results and improving the team's performance this season, as the management seeks to bring the club back into strong competition.
The Tunisian coach left Raja Club before the start of the current season, following a strained relationship with Portuguese sporting director Rogério Matias, according to reports circulating about his departure.
