Wydad Casablanca officials are meeting with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio today, Monday, October 19, 2026, to evaluate the team's performance during the first four rounds of the Moroccan Professional League and to discuss the future of the coaching staff in light of the modest results since the start of the season.

Discussions are expected to address the possibility of mutually parting ways with the coach after the team failed to secure a win at the Mohammed V Sports Complex for the third consecutive time, settling for a 1-1 draw against Amal Tiznit in the fourth round.

Wydad fans' demands for the dismissal of the Portuguese coach have increased following a start that has not lived up to expectations, as the team has only collected five points from a possible 12 in their first four matches, raising questions about their ability to compete strongly for titles this season.

According to Moroccan reports, Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi is among the prominent names being considered to replace Paulo Sergio, benefiting from his knowledge of Moroccan football after previously managing AS FAR Rabat and Raja Club.

The possibility of parting ways with the Portuguese coach faces a financial obstacle that could complicate the club's management decisions, given the disagreement over the terms of contract termination. According to circulating information, Paulo Sergio and his agent insist on receiving the full contract dues, estimated at around 320 million centimes, and refuse to end the association amicably under the proposed conditions.

On the other hand, sources close to the club have reported that parting ways with the coach could cost Wydad the equivalent of two months' salary, which presents the officials with a double challenge of correcting the team's technical course and avoiding additional financial burdens.

The results of the meeting and negotiations between the parties are expected to determine the next step for Wydad's management amid increasing fan pressure to restore the team's balance and return to winning ways.
