Enrique: It doesn't matter if we are the best now, this is what Manchester City deserved
Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, expressed pride in his team's performance against Manchester City, despite admitting that his side struggled during the second half. He emphasized that being ahead at the moment is not the most important thing, but rather finishing the season among the best teams.
Luis Enrique said: "How proud do I feel? It's hard to determine that, because the match had completely different phases. I think we showed in the first half what we want to present as a team against a strong team like Manchester City, and I see that we were superior to them by a large margin."
He added: "I don't like going into halftime with a 3-0 lead, because you might think the match is settled, but matches at this level are never settled that way. We suffered a lot in the second half, and Manchester City deserved to score more goals. After the second half ended with them leading 2-1, we could have lost this match due to bad luck."
Paris Saint-Germain's coach addressed Ousmane Dembélé, defending him against criticism, saying: "Ousmane is Ousmane, you journalists are the ones who speak poorly of Ousmane, he is a different player, and he loves playing in these types of matches. I believe we are a team that enjoys having all its players compete in this kind of competition."
Ahead of the anticipated clash against FC Barcelona next week, and whether the two teams are the best at the moment, Luis Enrique stressed that the true evaluation comes at the end of the season, stating: "It is not important to be the best at the moment, but it is important to be the best teams at the end of the season."
